On October 15, 2024, taking advantage of the 20th Customer Care and Management World (CCM World) Annual Conference and the inaugural Digital Silk Road Forum, Mr. Zhao Xi, founder of CCM World magazine, conducted an in-person interview with Mr. Eijiro Yamashita, head of transcosmos Group. The two discussed the topic of Chinese companies expanding their digital operations overseas. The following summarizes the main points of the interview:

Zhao Xi: What are the planning and vision of transcosmos globally?

Eijiro Yamashita: transcosmos is a major global BPO corporation offering a full range of digital services, including customer service, e-commerce, AI, new technology, business process, and IT infrastructure solutions, headquartered in Japan. We have operations in China, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, the Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, the United States, Hungary, and Poland. We are committed to partnering with companies to support their rapid and effective business development globally. We are true believers in the digital economy, and our investment in technology and physical presence demonstrates our commitment.

Zhao Xi: In your opinion, how does transcosmos contribute to the digital economy for companies in China?

Eijiro Yamashita: transcosmos has invested in China for more than 20 years, and we are well-acquainted with Chinese corporate culture. Even though we are a foreign entity in China, we have set up a Global Business team within China to bridge our Chinese clients with international delivery. Additionally, our international operating centers have many years of local market experience and local talent. We can provide guidance and support to help Chinese companies develop their new overseas businesses, from short-term rapid launches to long-term strategies. Of course, our investment in new technology like AI can help them improve operational efficiency.

Zhao Xi: What are the key success factors for Chinese companies going overseas?

Eijiro Yamashita: Chinese companies have a strong advantage in high-quality products. “Made in China” now holds great value in the eyes of consumers. The rest of the successful formula includes:

  1. Speed to market by working effectively with different local organizations, platforms, regulations, and understanding customer expectations.
  2. Building trust and confidence through:
    Localized customer service.
    B. Effective after-sales support, from logistics to repair services when needed.
    C. Collecting market feedback.
  3. Making the best use of technology to provide consistent, effective, and cost-efficient services.
  4. Proactively learning market insights for continuous improvement.

Zhao Xi: What is your expectation from this event?
